In this session, we will cover the essential things you need to get the best from the

Library at the University of Edinburgh for your studies, whether you’re in Edinburgh or studying online. Please bring plenty of questions, and in this friendly and welcoming introduction and discussion, you’ll get a head start in preparation for your course.

Learning outcomes – as a result of this session, you will…

  • Know about the types of materials available in the Library collections
  • Know how to find physical Library locations
  • Understand how to access online Library resources (like ebooks, ejournals, etc.)EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY
  • Know how to use the Library’s DiscoverEd catalogue to find resources you need
  • Know what to do if the Library doesn’t (yet) have what you need
  • Know how to get help when you need it

These sessions are designed for new online distance learners, but if you’re in your second or third year, you’re still welcome. The sessions will cover accessing and using Library resources. When you register, you’ll be asked to indicate any particular things you’d like covered, so the sessions will be tailored to cover studentsas much as possible of what is requested in advance. This is an online drop-in session with staff from the Institute for Academic Development.  It is designed for you to ask any questions about starting and getting prepared for your Online Distance Learning (ODL) course at Edinburgh.HeeHaw/Edinburgh Uni/05.02.08

There will be members of staff from the Institute for Academic Development (IAD – PGT study support) available at the session to help you orient around the online provisions, as well as providing a space just to talk about what it’s like to be an ODL student.
