(PGT – ODL) Getting Started with Your Scientific Writing- Who’s Afraid of the Big Blank Page
Wednesday 26th November 2014 at 19:00-20:00 (GMT)
This session will take place via blackboard collaborate (virtual classroom).
If you find writing a challenge, you are not alone. There are a number of difficulties, but many writers find that their biggest problem is simply getting started.
This online session will focus on strategies we can use to help us get over that fear of the big blank page. We will look at freewriting and how this can help us generate text and also help us think on paper. By the end of this one hour interactive online session you will have a better understanding of what free writing is and how it can help you in your scientific writing and thinking.

Based on the success of our previous sessions, we are holding more online library sessions this semester – these will be of particular interest to new ODL students. Students must register for these sessions using the links below.
These sessions will cover accessing and using Library resources. When you register, you’ll be asked to indicate any particular things you would like covered, so the sessions will be tailored to cover as much as possible of what is requested in advance. Before the session, you might find it useful to watch this induction presentation http://forth.mvm.ed.ac.uk/onlinelibrary.
The sessions will be held online, using the virtual meeting space Collaborate. Details on how to set up your computer to access the session will be sent to all registrants.
To register to attend, please complete the pre-session questionnaire for the date you would like to attend. Please note that registration will close at 9am UK time on the day of the session.
