Guest Session on Completing a Master’s Dissertation (for students)

By Dr John Biggam author of ‘Succeeding with your master’s dissertation: A step-by-step handbook’, published by Open University Press and now in its third edition.

This session, open to all master’s students, gives practical advice on how to complete a successful master’s dissertation, concentrating on how to write the chapters that typically form a master’s dissertation:

– Abstract
– Introduction
– Literature Review
– Research Methods
– Write-up (Description, Analysis, Synthesis)
– Conclusion

In addition, students will learn how to create a Dissertation Template, appreciate the role and responsibilities of supervisors/students and understand the importance of referencing (and how to reference), as well as gain an insight into the thorny topic of plagiarism.
